Packaging Resource Center: Show Coverage: Pack Expo Las Vegas

Processing, packaging, and sustainability are key focuses.

At Pack Expo Las Vegas, taking place October 5-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, trade show attendees will find packaging innovations that will help them to build stronger brands, enhance production efficiencies, meet sustainability requirements, and reduce total systems costs.

The show will feature more than 1200 exhibitors. During the show, Pack Expo will also run its conference session, focusing on topics such as sustainability, economics, and material alternatives. The conference’s sustainability track includes sessions such as The Hidden Sustainability Benefits of Plastic Packaging; Lean Manufacturing’s Unexpected Windfall: A Lower Carbon Footprint; and Are the Labeling and Green Claims on Your Packaging Meeting FTC and Retailer Requirements?

Shrink Sleeves

Ameri-Seal Inc. offers PVC, PETG, and OPS clear or printed shrink sleeves, labels, and seals. The items are converted at the supplier’s facility in Chatsworth, CA. Rotogravure printing is done in up to 10 colors. Colored film is also available in a variety of shades.

Clear Packaging

VisiPak provides clear plastic packaging for a variety of cosmetic products. The supplier now also offers stock thermoformed clamshells. The Eco-Shell is another option, which combines the features of a custom-shaped package with an existing mold for a custom look, without high tooling costs.

PLA Shrink Labels

Gilbreth Packaging has pioneered shrink labels made from polylactic acid (PLA). The company says that in addition to being compostable, the PLA labels require 66% less fossil fuel to produce than petroleum-based counterparts. PLA shrink film takes less heat and less dwell time—and therefore less energy—to shrink a label onto a package.
