Flow-Through Nail Pen
A specialist in flow-through cosmetic pens has developed a range of nail polish pens designed for quick and easy application. The pens are available in sizes of 2 and 4 ml and operate using a clicking piston that ensures a consistent flow of nail polish. The brush is flat, and a two-part cap keeps product from drying out on the brush. All of the pen’s parts are made of Barex and are compatible with nail formulations.
A Light-Up Compact
A firm has obtained exclusive global marketing rights for Tri-Novation Co.’s patent-pending light-up compact technology. Targeted at the luxury market, the compact utilizes high-quality LED illumination. A light-up panel surrounds the mirror on the inside of the compact’s lid. The brand logo on the outside of the cover also lights up. The compact can be created either in plastic or paper, and a magnetic closure can be added.
A two-piece closure features a valve and a retention ring that are co-injection molded from polypropylene. The design differs from typical closure designs that include three parts: a closure, a valve, and a retention ring. The valve can be manufactured from thermoplastic elastomer.

Hygienic Lotion Sampler
The Easy Cosm’ lotion dispenser is part of a supplier’s Cosm’ Sampling sample packaging range. Suited for liquids including gels and creams, the sampler is available in sizes of 5 and 10 ml. To protect formulations, the sampler eliminates contact between the product and the spring. Each of the sampler’s components is made from elastomer-free plastic. The dispenser’s design also minimizes product contact with oxygen. Finally, thanks to an automatic plug in the dispensing orifice, product will not dry out after use. Also, addressing environmental concerns, Easy Cosm’s number of components was reduced by 50%, from 14 down to seven.

The company has also created customized pigments that are formulated to minimize flow lines. Made of polypropylene, Soul jars are currently available in 5-, 15-, and 50-ml thick-walled versions, as well as a 100-ml size. The line’s success has also prompted the supplier to launch a 200-ml jar.
New Oval Bottle
When a customer requested a unique oval-shaped 8-oz plastic bottle, the package designers at Alpha Packaging’s Technology Center developed a series of PET oval bottles that met the brand’s needs. One of the designs, called the Domed Oval, is now available as a stock bottle from the supplier. The PET Domed Oval bottle features a different shoulder profile than either of the supplier’s existing lines of ovals (its Capri Ovals and Vale Ovals lines). The 8-oz Domed Oval bottle is stocked in clear, although custom colors can be ordered. The bottle was built from the supplier’s 25.8-g 24-410 PET preform, which is one of Alpha’s approximately four-dozen PET preforms that can be used to quickly and economically develop new bottle styles. Using the preform, Alpha can also create other sizes of the Domed Oval bottle.
