Natural Preservative Systems: Packaging Plays a Role
Brands can help natural preservative systems do their job by reducing the chance that a product in a package will become contaminated. This can be done by using airless packaging, as Origins did for its USDA-certified-organic Origins Organics skin care line. The line’s sophisticated airless-bag dispensers were supplied by Lablabo (Annemasse, France). Visit cpcpkg.com’s archived May/June 2008 issue to read more about the Origins Organics packaging.
Unit-dose packages also help to ensure that packages aren’t opened multiple times, repeatedly exposing a product to contaminants and oxygen. For this reason, Aveda used small unit-dose tubes for its Green Science Line Minimizer product.
