The Three Bottles
Customers can find the bottle size that’s just right for them when it comes to Frais hand sanitizers. The luxurious, environmentally friendly sanitizers are offered in three sizes—a countertop size (444 ml) and two smaller travel sizes (6 and 50 ml). Each comes in Frais’s custom bottle, whose unique shape was faithfully carried out to even the smallest bottle.
“We chose [the bottles’ champagne-flute shape] in order to differentiate ourselves from the stock packaging used by [most] other hand sanitizers, except for Method Products’ [packaging],” says Michael Davis-Smith, Frais’s managing director for Australia.

Budding Beauty
Lancôme’s limited-edition Lotus Splendour compact, designed by Alexis Mabille and part of Lancôme’s fall/winter 2008 collection, featured trays that fall open like petals of a blossoming flower.
HCT France and HCT Metals produced the package. “It was one of the most challenging metal projects we have undertaken,” says Romayne Apcar, general director, HCT France. The base is weighted, and each hinged tray clicks neatly back in place thanks to hidden magnets.
How Charming
For the holidays, DKNY introduced its first keychain accessory, Delicious Bites, to which customers can attach mini versions of DKNY’s Be Delicious and Delicious Night beauty products.
The mini containers include 2-ml roller-ball bottles filled with eau de parfum and 4-ml tubes containing lip gloss. The containers are removable so that users can customize the keychain only with the beauty products they wish to carry with them for the day.

Packaging that “Pops”
Urban Decay’s limited-edition Book of Shadows palette stands out thanks to 3-D pop-up graphics under the compact’s mirrored lid. The brand partnered with longtime supplier HCT Packaging (Santa Monica, CA), which used its factories in China. According to Nick Gardner, HCT’s vice president of sales, the packaging “provides more bang for the buck when displayed on retail shelves.”
