Trade Show Fun

If trade show booths could win awards for creativity, an award should have gone to one HBA Global Expo booth in particular. At the booth, trade show attendees were invited to personalize their very own bottles of a unisex fragrance.

Visitors to the booth were asked to sit down, have their pictures taken, and suggest a name for their fragrance. Within minutes, a label printed with a visitor’s photo and the name of his or her fragrance was printed and adhered to a prefilled fragrance bottle.

The booth was a joint effort of Hirschhorn + Young Graphics (which provided the graphic design), Brad-Pak Enterprises (bottle and pump), Quality Assured Enterprises Inc. (label), and Givaudan (fragrance).

Clothing that Moisturizes

Applied DNA Sciences Inc. (Stony Brook, NY) announced that its DermalRX HydroSeal moisturizing ingredient has been incorporated into the fabric of a line of intimate apparel.

“Topical delivery systems enhance the performance of active ingredients on the skin,” says James Hayward, Applied DNA’s CEO. “All garments contact the skin. What better way to deploy a skin treatment than through a textile?”

DermalRx HydroSeal is part of the company’s BioActive ingredients portfolio. It comprises a yeast ferment, soy proteins, and soy peptides, which together are designed to restore elasticity and moisture to the skin.

Cool Compacts

Spotted at HBA Global Expo, these patented plastic compacts from supplier Lisange (South Korea) look unique thanks to a decorative plate on each compact’s lid.

The underside of each PMMA plate was silk-screened with a colorful pattern. More decorative patterns were then outlined, engraved, and UV metallized on the plate in silver. Besides compacts, the decorating process can be applied to other components, such as caps.

Lightweight Aluminum Bottles

Brad-Pak Enterprises (Garwood, NJ) has introduced a line of small, lightweight aluminum bottles.

The aluminum bottles are recyclable. They are geared to the travel industry, as well as men’s products and organic items. Sizes include 20, 30, 40, and 50 ml. Screw- or crimp-style necks are available.

Spraying It on Thick

Rexam’s (Purchase, NY) new Turbo Insert dispenser is designed to spray very viscous liquid formulas, including emulsions, gels, and lotions with viscosity levels as high as 100 times the viscosity of water.

The technology was designed for personal care, hair care, and body care items, as well as sun care products—even those with an SPF of 50 and higher.

Eco-Friendly One-Piece Tubes

World Wide Packaging (Florham Park, NJ) has introduced an eco-friendly version of its one-piece plastic oval tube. The tube’s body, head, and cap are made of a layer of postconsumer-recycled plastic resin.

World Wide recently produced the tubes for brands Almay and Good Stuff Organics. World Wide’s one-piece tube design is meant to eliminate on-line filling problems associated with conventional tubes with caps.

Foil Sleeves for Ampules

James Alexander (Blairstown, NJ) now offers colored foil sleeves to house its glass swab ampules.

The sleeves not only protect the glass ampules, they also provide a high-end look. Sleeves are available in 25 foil colors, including gold, silver, and bronze. Printed logos and marketing messages can also be added.
