CPC Packaging's 2008 Packager of the Year - 2008 Notable Launches: New Partnership with James Bond Franchise

Avon collaborated with the James Bond entertainment franchise, property of Danjag LLC and Eon Productions, to create the new Bond Girl 007 fragrance launching in the fourth quarter of 2008. “We were given a lot of inspirational materials and research to help us come up with the right look for this package,” says Patricia Demnisky-Green, Avon’s director of global package design.

High-tech gadgets and the sexy curves of the Bond girls portrayed in movies inspired the packaging. The glass bottle, with its hourglass curves, has a silver cap that was metallized and engraved. A spy gadget inspired the handle-shaped ring on the top of the cap. “The collar and cap were a challenge to engineer,” says Jeff Wass, executive director of global new product and package engineering. “The hoop over the collar had to be robust enough to withstand pull forces while staying true to the aesthetics.”

The fragrance’s silver box is reminiscent of steel, debossed with a raised image of blades. The inside of the box was dyed hot pink.
