CPC Packaging's 2008 Packager of the Year - 2008 Notable Launches: Avon Continues to Partner with Fashion Designers for New Fragrances

Last year, Christian Lacroix fragrances were Avon’s most successful launch of all time, inspiring the company to continue to collaborate with fashion designers. Now, Avon has partnered with the world-renowned fashion house Emanuel Ungaro Maison to create two signature fragrances, U by Ungaro for Her and U by Ungaro for Him.

“Since this was our first partnership with the designer, we wanted to leverage Ungaro’s branding and unique sense of style through the decoration,” says Patricia Demnisky-Green, Avon’s director of global package design. The back of the glass bottle was decorated with a repeated pattern of a “U.”

“When viewed through the front of the bottle, this pattern reinforces branding while creating depth and dimension,” says Demnisky-Green. The top of the cap was embossed with a “U,” and the collar was custom designed. The mylar carton was embossed. A pattern was printed inside of the carton, and the carton contains a vat-dyed liner that matches the color of the fragrance.

With these two new fragrances, Avon has really captured the energy, confidence, and sophisticated feel of our designs.”
