Tubes: Eco-Friendly Decorating

As part of an ongoing multi-million-dollar expansion plan announced in March 2008, CCL Tube has installed two new eight-color offset printing machines in its Los Angeles and Wilkes-Barre, PA, plants. CCL says the installation gives each plant identical printing capabilities.

The manufacturer says that new digital plate-making technology enables it to make accurate plates directly from a customer’s digital files, eliminating the need for film and process chemicals that could pollute the environment. CCL says that it has spent more than $7 million in silk-screen tube-printing machinery, and new optical inspection methods ensure that the finished tube matches the client’s artwork, says Andy Iseli, general manager of CCL Tube’s Los Angeles plant.
