The trade show devotes a full day of conferences to the topic of sustainability.
For those working in the luxury beauty sector, the 21st edition of Luxe Pack Monaco will focus on a number of current hot topics—including green packaging. The trade show returns to Monte Carlo’s Grimaldi Forum on October 28–31.Mindful of the packaging industry’s growing concern for package sustainability, the trade show will devote an entire day of conferences to this subject. Conference speakers will discuss which materials are most environmentally friendly and examine the impact of a package throughout its life cycle. Another question to be raised will be one that’s on the minds of many luxury packagers—can sustainable packaging be made luxurious?
Luxe Pack conferences will discuss other market trends as well. The results of an international luxury market survey carried out in France, Italy, Japan, and the United States will also be reported at the show.
In addition, package designer Marc Rosen will host his annual conference, this year called Redefining the Glamour Aesthetic. Rosen and his panel will talk about the new definition of luxury in today’s beauty marketplace.

A luxurious secondary box for a FlowerbyKenzo gift set combines plastic and cardboard materials. The box’s cover was injection-molded, while the base was made from 800-g cardboard that was wrapped with paper offset-printed in four colors. The products are held in place by a white EVA foam insert.

Sustainable Decorating Options
A manufacturer of luxury folding cartons offers several eco-friendly decorating processes for folding cartons. CurtCHROME, which simulates the look of foil, is a biodegradable and recyclable alternative to foil lamination and hot stamping. CurtCOAT is an ultraglossy alternative to acetate film lamination. It can be recycled and is free of volatile organic compounds. CurtCRYSTAL provides the texture of microembossing without requiring a secondary off-line operation.

Despite the window’s rounded shape, the box is also stackable, as each window is designed to nest in the base of another box for ease of display at the point of sale. The line’s shopping bags can feature vinyl, metallic, matte, shiny, or even leather-like coverings.
