Vera Wang received this year’s FiFi Hall of Fame Award. Rochelle Bloom, president of The Fragrance Foundation, said, “Vera Wang is, and continues to be, a tremendous influence in the fragrance industry. Vera’s contributions include the highly successful Vera Wang, Sheer Veil, Bouquet, and Truly Pink fragrances, as well as the most recent introduction of Vera Wang Princess and Flower Princess.”

Coty, Avon, and Giorgio Armani were the big packaging winners at this year’s FiFi Awards.

Coty took home two best packaging FiFi Awards: the women’s prestige packaging award for Marc Jacobs Daisy and the men’s popular appeal packaging award for Intimately Beckham Men. Packaging suppliers for Marc Jacobs Daisy included Pochet (Wayne, NJ) for the bottle, Jackel (Hillsborough, NJ) for the flower-adorned cap, and Rexam (Purchase, NY) for the pump.

Marc Jacobs’ Daisy flowered cap makes the bottle hippie-chic. The package won a best packaging award in the women’s prestige fragrance category.
Christian Lacroix’s Rouge bottle, which won the best packaging FiFi in the women’s popular-appeal category, features red spraying and ornate printing.

The men’s prestige packaging category awarded the Attitude by Giorgio Armani fragrance bottle, modeled after a cigarette lighter. Suppliers included Gerresheimer (Düsseldorf, Germany) and NVM for the bottle, SAF for the cap, and Valois (Congers, NY) for the pump.

Meanwhile, Avon Products’ Christian Lacroix Rouge fragrance bottle, printed with organic red ink and ornate black silk-screening, won the best packaging award for women’s popular appeal fragrance. Suppliers included Heinz Glas (Linden, NJ) for the bottle, C+N Packaging (Wyandanch, NY) for the cap, and Emsar (Stratford, CT) for the pump.

The FiFi men’s prestige packaging winner, the Attitude by Giorgio Armani fragrance bottle, features Art Deco styling.

For a complete list of 2008 FiFi winners, visit The Fragrance Foundation’s Web site at www.fragrance.org. Hosted by The Fragrance Foundation, the FiFi Awards welcomed celebrities and the packaging industry’s elite. The ceremony was held on May 21 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.

Diamond Packaging Wins Carton Awards

Carton supplier Diamond Packaging (Rochester, NY) won five awards in the Gold Leaf Awards Competition, sponsored by the Foil Stamping & Embossing Association. The awards recognize excellence in foil stamping and embossing designs and techniques.

Cartons for Coty’s Nautica My Voyage fragrance feature advanced foil stamping and embossing techniques to create a look reminiscent of ocean waves and sandy beaches.

Diamond won a gold award for Coty’s Nautica My Voyage for Her fragrance carton. The reverse-tuck carton features .018 solid-bleached-sulfate holographic foil board complemented by advanced foil stamping and embossing. The graphics were offset printed in various colors.

The carton’s holographic foil was overprinted with transparent blue ink to suggest the look of the ocean. A UV gloss coating was applied over the carton’s holographic areas. The bottom portion of the carton was stamped with opaque white foil and embossed with a crosshatch pattern for a tactile effect to mimic the look of sand.

Diamond also won a silver award for a Stetson fragrance gift set carton for Coty. The carton features gold foil stamping, embossing, and spot coating.
