Industry News: Reusable Lipstick Case Reintroduced
Risdon’s vintage lipstick container with a removable sleeve, last produced 40 years ago.During his presentation, Luxe Pack New York panel speaker Steve Pearlman, president of packaging supplier Risdon International Inc. (Watertown, CT), presented a unique design for a reusable lipstick package with parts that can be disassembled, sorted, and recycled.
Most of today’s lipstick containers cannot be disassembled and contain as many as a dozen different parts made from dissimilar materials, rendering these containers unrecyclable, said Pearlman.
Risdon’s reusable metal lipstick case has a removable lipstick sleeve. The package can be refilled with another sleeve of lipstick, and the old sleeve—whether plastic or metal—can be separated from the rest of the metal package, sorted, and recycled.
Pearlman showed vintage versions of a lipstick package that can be disassembled. Risdon last produced the design 40 years ago for brands such as Helena Rubinstein and Revlon.
