Aerosol Can Reduces VOCs
Crown Holdings Inc. (Philadelphia) has developed an aerosol can that uses compressed air instead of hydrocarbons as a propellant, ultimately reducing the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released into the atmosphere.
The company developed the EarthSafe dispensing system to help brand owners comply with a directive from the California Air Resources Board that mandates the reduction of VOCs in certain consumer products. This mandate is expected to become law by January 1, 2010.
The technology was developed in cooperation with Chris Scheindel, president of Ultramotive Corp., which holds the patent to the technology.
