HBA Global Expo Gets New Leader

Jill Birkett

Jill Birkett is the new event director for the HBA Global Expo trade show. She will be responsible for managing the annual trade show and its educational conference as well as HBA’s spring conferences and awards program.

Before joining HBA Global, Birkett was a founding partner of Unicomm LLC, a company that specializes in launching events. She has also been part of the management team of shows such as the International Beauty Show, Licensing International, and the Advertising Foundation Research Expo.

Seidel Opens Research Center

Aluminum specialist Seidel GmbH + Co. has opened a research and development center near its headquarters in Marburg, Germany. The facility will develop new techniques, including environmentally friendly options, for aluminum processing and finishing. The supplier says that it also plans to work with scientists from nearby universities to pioneer new methods.










CIBS Presents Scholarship

The Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers Association (CIBS; New York City) presented its Robert Ring Memorial Scholarship to Griffin Blane, a package design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). The scholarship check was presented at a CIBS luncheon at Opia Restaurant in New York City.

 





Rexam Supplies One-Billionth Foamer

Dispenser supplier Rexam (Pompano Beach, FL) recently celebrated the sale of its one-billionth foamer. The milestone foamer was sold to Beauty Avenues for a Bath & Body Works foaming hand soap.

To celebrate the occasion, Rexam presented an award to Wes Joseph, director of strategic sourcing for Beauty Avenues

 






Eco-friendly folding-carton manu­facturer Curtis Packaging (Sandy Hook, CT) has appointed Kerry C. Brown director of quality. Brown’s first order of business will be to implement ISO 9001/2000 standards for the company. For previous employers, Brown developed and implemented ISO certification and enacted continuous-improvement routines based on six sigma and Kaizan principles.

Bonnie Miller

Hirschhorn + Young Graphics (New York City) has added Bonnie Miller, director of business development, to its team. H+Y Graphics is a production art design studio and an expert in regulatory graphics compliance. With 20 years of experience in creative product development, Miller will focus on expanding the company’s client base.

 

Packaging distributor Kaufman Container (Cleveland) has hired Anthony J. Delco as purchasing manager. He will play an integral role in managing the distributor’s worldwide supplier base.

Daniel Saksik

Daniel Saksik has joined fragrance pump supplier MeadWestvaco Calmar (Grandview, MO) as worldwide vice president of sales and marketing, fragrance business division. Most recently, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Saint-Gobain Desjonquères.
