Estée Lauder to Get New Leader

On March 3, Fabrizio Freda will become The Estée Lauder Companies’ new president and COO. William P. Lauder, Estée Lauder’s current CEO, announced his future plan to make Freda CEO within 24 months.

Freda will oversee Estée Lauder’s packaging, brands, global operations, and research and development.

Previously, Freda was president, global snacks, for Procter & Gamble. While at P&G, Freda also spent a decade working in the company’s health and beauty care division. He also directed marketing and strategic planning for Gucci S.p.A. from 1986 to 1988.

Former COO Dan Brestle has been named vice chairman and president of Estée Lauder North America.

Luxe Pack Turns Twenty

Cecile Tuil, director of communications for supplier Alcan Packaging Beauty, accepted her company’s award for participating in the Luxe Pack Monaco trade show since the show began 20 years ago.

Organizers of the Luxe Pack Monaco trade show thanked the 10 suppliers that have exhibited at the show since its beginning. At the show’s 20th-anniversary installment last October, awards were presented to Alcan Packaging Beauty, Doro, Ets Clas, Ileos, Kurz, Lisi Cosmetics, Qualipac, RPC Beauté, Verreries Brosse, and VPI.

Representatives from the 10 companies that have participated in every Luxe Pack Monaco trade show received mementos at the show’s 20th anniversary last October.

 

Celebrating Tubes

The Tube Council presented its 2007 Tube of the Year awards at the association’s annual meeting on October 17, 2007, in Newark, NJ. Winners included World Wide Packaging, Alcan Packaging Beauty, and Montebello Packaging. For more information on the tubes that won awards, see CPC Packaging’s October 2007 issue.

 

In Memoriam

Robert Michael Ryan, a longtime sales rep for supplier New High Glass, passed away on November 8, 2007. Ryan had been an employee of New High Glass for more than 30 years. “He will be deeply missed, not only by his loving family, but also by his many friends,” said Len Loffler, marketing director for New High Glass.

 

Luxe Pack Brazil Awards MeadWestvaco Calmar

Dispenser supplier MeadWestvaco Calmar (Barcelona) was honored with several awards at the Luxe Pack Brazil trade show held in October. The supplier’s NoC “invisible” dip tube for fragrances captured the judges’ attention, receiving an award in the pumps category, as well as the Innova Pack Award for innovation.

The patent-pending NoC dip tube utilizes light-refracting technology that makes the tube barely visible when submersed in fragrance.
