In Closing: Ingestible Beauty Products
Origins furthers the marriage of beauty and wellness.
By Marie Redding, Senior EditorThe Origins and Dr. Weil brands have together launched a honey supplement that solidifies their dedication to products that address both inner and outer health for overall wellness. Weil Bee-ings Organic Health Support Honey is available in three different types to help support the immune system, improve digestion, or increase energy.
“More people are realizing that what you put in your body is as important as what you use on your skin. Consumers are becoming more savvy and associating certain nutrients with skin health, and consequently, beauty,” explains Yanina Silva of Origins Global Marketing. “In addition, more people are starting to view their health with a holistic approach that implies health of mind, body, and spirit. We consider this a movement that represents a change in people’s mind-sets that is here to stay. At Origins, this approach has always been part of our DNA,” she adds.
The spreadable creamy honey is USDA certified organic. A seal on the package’s label confirms this fact. A stock PET jar was darkly colored to protect the ingredients in the formulation. “We used a screw-on cap with a tamper-evident breakaway ring. Inside the cap, there is a pressure-sensitive seal similar to those found on other food products,” explains Alan Bodker, executive director of packaging for Origins.
The trend of linking beauty products to health products might pose a few new issues for beauty companies. Besides finding a look that bridges the nutritional and cosmetic industries, packaging teams will also be faced with a new task: researching a whole new group of suppliers to find different types of food-grade packages.
