Labeling Small-Sized Containers
Decorative shrink labels were produced for The Mentholatum Company’s Natural Ice lip balm line. The labels combine glossy graphics with tamper evidence because the shrink sleeve covers the lip balm’s tube and cap. Perforations on the shrink sleeve make the cap easy to remove. Made from PVC, the shrink labels were reverse printed in four to five different colors. In addition to PVC labels, the supplier also provides labels in PETG, OPS, and eco-friendly corn-based Earthfirst PLA. Seal-It, a division of Printpack, Farmingdale, NY.
Extended-Text Labels
The MultiVision extended-text label line gives marketers the ability to deliver more information to consumers on one package. One of the labels in the line, FlexVision, is the only 100% conformable, patented two-ply label that is engineered specifically for plastic tubes. FlexVision enables brand owners to replace silk-screened graphics with high-quality process printing. Another label in the line, EasyTab, is a patented extended-text label that is “pre-curved” so that it conforms to packages with small diameters. It features a top panel that opens and reseals for a minimum of two years, and it can hold up to 13 label sheets above the base label. Finally, FlexWrap is an extended-text patent-pending label that is engineered for small-diameter packages to help brands meet regulatory requirements. All three labels can be applied using standard labeling machinery. WS Packaging Group, Green Bay, WI.
Shrink-Sleeve Specialist
A West Coast manufacturer and converter of PVC, PETG, and OPS heat-shrinkable seals and labels recently added a new manufacturing location in New Jersey. The company offers tamper-evident bands, full-body printed sleeves, cut bands, and roll stock. Films can be clear, printed, or colored. The firm’s newest offerings are metallic and scratch-and-sniff films. In addition, the company’s contract sleeving division can shrink bands directly onto a brand’s packages. Its graphics department can assist with design. Ameri-Seal, Chatsworth, CA.
Now Offering Shrink Sleeves
A packaging supplier has added shrink sleeves to its offerings. According to the company, shrink sleeves not only decorate a larger surface area of a container when compared with traditional labels, but they can also protect a package’s integrity when tamper-evident sealing features are added. The firm’s sleeves are suited for a range of packaging styles. Continental Packaging Solutions, Chicago.
Multipack Wraps
A supplier’s shrink-label technology is designed for packaging promotional and retail packages together. The secure yet flexible Double-Seam shrink label allows customers to clearly see each package’s label, eliminating the need for additional pamphlets and outserts. To optimize shelf space, Double-Seam labels can be affixed to the side, front, back, or top of a retail package. Gilbreth, Croydon, PA.
Durable Film
A company’s COMPUcal EXCEL 10442 film is a versatile, clear polyester film that can be used as a base film or a laminate for labels. When used as a matte laminate, the 1.0-mil top-coated film lends a high-end look. It is also a lower-cost, thinner-gauge alternative to standard 2.0-mil base-label films. The film also resists environmental factors such as smudging, scratching, moisture, chemicals, and solvents. Flexcon, Spencer, MA.
Metallic Look
Metallic-looking roll-fed shrink-film labels provide the look of hot-foil stamping when the cost of hot stamping is prohibitive. MetaliWrap Plus and HoloWrap Plus labels also eliminate the cost of warehousing preprinted cans. The labels are suited for a variety of container shapes, including aerosol cans and contoured plastic containers. They can feature bold, 3-D effects, raised graphics, multicolor printing, and a combination of UV flexographic and rotary-screen printing. The Kennedy Group, Cleveland.
