Risdon International Inc. has opened a new office in Shanghai. The site will provide regional customers with support for sales, product engineering, and logistics. Additionally, Risdon will source materials out of China for its North American operations.
To celebrate the new office, Risdon held a reception on February 1. According to Risdon chairman Thomas Frater, the company is making “immediate inroads into China” and has China “firmly in its strategic plans for future expansion.”
Peter Yu
The new office is staffed by a local team. Peter Yu has been named its general manager. Yu will report to Faqueer Ahmad, Risdon’s executive vice president international.
Sherri Ruffini
Finally, in other Risdon news, Sherri Ruffini has been named key account manager. Most recently, Ruffini worked for ATP Health & Beauty Care and prior to that, for Eyelematic Manufacturing.

On March 22, the Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers (CIBS) association held its spring cocktail party. The event was held at Manhattan’s Copacabana restaurant.

Edward Quinn
Edward Quinn is now vice president of sales, perfumery and cosmetics, for Valois of America Inc. (Congers, NY). Quinn continues to report to Eric Bauer, president of Valois of America, as well as to Christophe Staelen, vice president of worldwide sales, Valois.
Quinn and his sales team will continue to strategize expanding Valois’s U.S. market position. Quinn’s positive sales results contributed to the company’s 60% sales increase of perfumery and cosmetic items since the end of 2004.
Socoplan has announced that Vincent Hasenfratz is COO of its China subsidiary, Flexasia. Part of the Ileos Group, Socoplan specializes in unit-dose and sampling products. Hasenfratz will be based at Flexasia’s Shangyu plant. He reports to Ludovic Anceau, CEO of Socoplan Group.
J. Anthony Petrelli
J. Anthony Petrelli has been named president and COO of firm CardPak Inc. Petrelli has more than 25 years of packaging experience at companies such as Caraustar Industries, Packaging Corporation of America, and Tenneco Packaging. CardPak is a supplier of carded packaging, including cartons, blister cards, and clamshell inserts.
Kaufman Container Co. (Cleveland) has added Heidi Humble to its sales team as an account manager. Humble will be based at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland.
Skylla Jones
SeaCliff Beauty Packaging & Laboratories (Newport Beach, CA) has named Skylla Jones a sales account manager for the supplier’s primary and secondary packaging business. One of her responsibilities is to help build a division for the company that will focus on developing promotional packaging products.
Crabtree & Evelyn has appointed a new director of global purchasing and inventory control. Becky Staveski will be responsible for the procurement of all products manufactured externally, as well as for first purchases of all components.
