CIBS Announces 2007 Officers, Scholarship Winner

The Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers (CIBS) association has announced its 2007 board members. The 2007 officers are: Michael Warford, president; Elizabeth Mount, vice president; Fran Cardiff, treasurer; Charles Marchese, recording secretary; Nick LoPrinzi, corresponding secretary; William Standwill, director; Donald Cardiff, director; and Anthony Colica, director.

Standwill, the 2006 CIBS president, welcomed incoming president Warford, and presented him with the association’s Presidents Bowl. The ceremony took place at the association’s annual holiday ball. Held at the New York Hilton on December 2, the black-tie event was attended by approximately 1200 members and guests.

Also in December, CIBS awarded its 2006 student scholarship. The scholarship goes to an outstanding student of the package design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT; New York City). Diana Luistro was the recipient of the 2006 award, a $2000 scholarship.

Multivac Inc. (Kansas City, MO) has appointed Ed Wood as the new director of sales for the company’s medical, consumer, and industrial products division. (This division also focuses on the beauty market.)

 

Continental Packaging Solutions (Chicago) has named Hank Townsend packaging consultant. Townsend will be based in the company’s Houston office and will advise marketers on packaging.

 

World Wide Packaging (Florham Park, NJ) has hired David Willing as account executive. Willing will work at the supplier’s Michigan office and will serve the states of Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri. His previous jobs include being account manager for the Rexam Make Up Division, director of sales for CCL Plastic Packaging, and marketing manager for Owens-Brockway Plastics.

 

Shorewood Packaging (Memphis) has added Bruce Betancourt as vice president of sales of its cosmetic packaging division. In his position, Betancourt will work with accounts such as Elizabeth Arden, Coty, and Victoria’s Secret.

 

Alpha Packaging (St. Louis) will open a new 120,000-sq-ft plant in Jacksonville, FL, in the first quarter of 2007. It is Alpha’s fourth plant; others are located in St. Louis; Salt Lake City, UT; and Bethlehem, PA. The Jacksonville plant will primarily serve customers in the health and beauty aids market. It will run seven PET blow molding machines for both narrow-neck and wide-mouth bottle styles.

Guita Dovas, CEO and founder of Oloff Beauty, hosted a breakfast to announce the launch of its new travel-sized Barex hair care packages. (For more information on these packages, see the Latest Launches section in this issue.) The event was held on January 24 at Oloff Beauty Studios in New York City.

 

Cosmetic packaging design firm QSLD New World has hired Dayna Arkin as junior project manager at the company’s U.S. branch. QSLD clients include Coty Prestige, Procter & Gamble, Lancôme, Escada, and Guerlain.
