Show Coverage: Luxe Pack Monaco
This fall, the Luxe Pack Monaco trade show returns for its 19th edition in Monaco. The show will be held October 24–27 at the Grimaldi Forum.
More than 300 exhibitors will showcase their latest innovations in luxury packaging. Components to be shown include bags, bottles, caps, cartons, compacts, dispensers, jars, paper, pumps, ribbons, raw materials, sample packaging, tubes, textiles, and accessories.
In addition to primary and secondary packaging components, this year’s Luxe Pack show will feature a brand-new pavilion focusing on point-of-purchase displays. To celebrate the new pavilion, students from Paris art school Ecole Boulle will showcase point-of-purchase displays they designed for perfumes and cosmetics.
Another special feature at the show will be an art installation created by package designer Chad Lavigne. The installation comprises a mural made entirely from packaging components.
Show hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information on Luxe Pack, visit www.luxepack.com.
EXHIBITOR PRODUCTS
Compacts and More
The Tivoli stock compact line (pictured) is one of a supplier’s many offerings. This year, the firm celebrates the 35th anniversary of its Malta facility, as well as the first year of operating a facility in Shenzen, China. Other facilities are located in Paris, New York City, London, Belgium, Hong Kong, India, and South Korea. At the show, the company will display more than 100 compacts, as well as skin care and promotional packaging. The firm shares a booth with its alliance partners Geka Brush and Sinwa, which will present new technologies in mascara packaging. Toly Europe S.A., Zejtun, Malta.
Discreet Dip Tube
A unique dip tube incorporates light-refracting technology that makes the dip tube appear invisible when submerged in a fragrance. Unlike traditional dip tubes, which may visually detract from the look of a fragrance bottle, the NoC dip tube is designed to be discreet. The dip tube is available on the supplier’s low-profile Melodie fragrance sprayer, which features a miniature engine that can be hidden in the neck of a bottle. MeadWestvaco Calmar, Grandview, MO.
Plastic Pump
A new pump features a plastic ferrule and a plastic gasket. Because the ferrule and the gasket are made of plastic, there are fewer compatibility issues with fragrance formulations. The pump offers other benefits such as easy assembly. It fits any standard bottle with a GPI or FEA finish. Emsar, Stratford, CT.
Transparent Design
A super-low-profile pump features a glass ball and a transparent dip tube that were designed to make the pump look discreet on a fragrance bottle. The glass ball substitutes a conventional metal ball. The dip tube is made from a plastic material that is designed to look invisible when immersed in a perfume. The pump assembly contains no elastomers that could contaminate a fragrance. Available in 70- and 120-µl dosage versions, the pump can be provided with a range of attachments including the supplier’s The Crimpless, Crimp On, and Screw On systems. Rexam Dispensing Systems, Purchase, NY.
Packaging Range
Cosmetics brand Be Coloured chose a supplier’s French division to develop the packaging for its line. For the brand’s liquid, cream, stick, and mousse foundations, the supplier provided a pump dispenser, a tube, a stick package, and a pot, respectively. The line also includes loose- and pressed powders, lip products, and a highlighter, all of which are contained in cardboard packaging. HCT Packaging, Bridgewater, NJ.
Bottles for Boss
A company provides the bottles for Procter & Gamble’s Boss in Motion fragrance line. The line’s newest limited-edition fragrance, Boss in Motion Black, also features the supplier’s bottle. Like the rest of the Boss in Motion fragrance bottles, the Boss in Motion Black bottle comprises two aluminum half spheres that were decorated with embossing and laser engraving. Seidel GmbH & Co., Marburg, Germany.
Cool Line Extension
A nail polish bottle and a mascara case are among the packages that have been added to a supplier’s Cool color cosmetic standard packaging line. The Cool line is designed with round and oval shapes that are meant to be sleek. DieterBakicEnterprises, Munich, Germany.
Façonnable Fragrance Bottle
For the Façonnable Femme fragrance, a supplier provided a clear glass puck-shaped bottle with a cutout in the base. The bottle was decorated with a satiny frosted finish that provides a glossy, silky shimmer. A circular area on the bottle’s front and side walls was acid-etched. Gerresheimer Group GmbH, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Dispensing Systems
A South Korean firm has 10 years of experience manufacturing pumps and dispensing systems. Its product range is suited for beauty items such as creams and soaps. Tester-sized dispensers are available for treatment and perfume products. Chong Woo America Ltd., New York City.
Sampling Technologies
For more than 40 years, a supplier has provided unit-dose and sampling technologies to the cosmetic industry. The company manufactures thermoformed blisters, sachets, and other unit-dose packages for cream, lotion, gel, paste, hot-poured, and granular products. More than 500 foil-laminate combinations have been developed, including high-barrier laminates. Decorating possibilities include eight-color registered flexography, thermo-foil distortion printing, and labeling. Klocke of America Inc., Ft. Myers, FL.
Mini Sprayer
A mini fragrance sprayer is meant to be portable. Ideal for retail kits and promotional products, the Stilo Replica is available in sizes of 7.5 and 10 ml. The dispenser can be lacquered, metallized, or screen-printed with a brand’s artwork. The dispenser’s spray nozzle can be provided in metal or plastic. A metal or plastic cap is also available. Valois of America, Congers, NY.
Package Variety
A supplier will showcase an array of packaging components, including tubes, compacts, and fragrance dispensers. In addition to a tube created for the Tommy Girl fragrance line, the firm will display Harmonie, an all-plastic laminate tube launching in 2007. Other new components to be shown are the Tajine loose-power container and the Viaggio spray cap. Alcan Packaging Beauty, New York City.
