Michael Spinozzi has been named president of Sally Beauty Supply’s United States and Canada businesses. Spinozzi will report to Gary Winterhalter, president of Sally Beauty Company and Beauty Systems Group. Spinozzi will be responsible for leading the overall strategic direction of the more than 2100 Sally Beauty stores in the United States and Canada.

Claire Santopietro has been promoted to director of sales for supplier Crown Risdon (Watertown, CT). In her new role, Santopietro will take charge of responsibility for key account The Estée Lauder Companies. Previously, Santopietro served as senior account manager.

Alpha Packaging (St. Louis), a supplier of plastic bottles and jars, has named Jack Baily vice president of sales. This is a new position the company says was created to accommodate growing sales.

In May 2006, packaging conglomerate Rexam acquired dispenser supplier Airspray International. Airspray is now part of the Rexam Dispensing Systems (Purchase, NY) division and goes by the name of Rexam Airspray. As a result of the acquisition, several personnel changes have been announced.

Robert Brands, former managing director of Airspray, has been appointed managing director of Rexam Dispensing Systems. Hervé Bichon, former global sales and marketing director for Rexam Dispensing Systems, has been named the division’s deputy managing director. In this position, he will assume additional operational responsibility in Europe.

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF; New York City), a creator and manufacturer of flavors and fragrances, has appointed Robert M. Amen as CEO and chairman of the board. Most recently, Amen served as president of International Paper Co.

Ju E. Wong has been named senior vice president, global business, for N.V. Perricone M.D. Cosmeceuticals. Wong joins the company from Murad Inc., where she served as vice president of international and business development.

Surefill LLC (Grand Rapids, MI), a contract manufacturer of personal care products, has hired four new employees: Tim Butcher, plant manager; Jeff Bevis, chief engineer; Martin Chism, purchasing auditor; and Bob Gordon, quality assurance laboratory manager. Earlier this year, the firm established its world headquarters in West Michigan.

ICMAD Elects Officers

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD; Palatine, IL) association elected officers at its May 17 board of directors meeting in New York City.

The officers for 2006–2007 are: president David Schieffelin of Models Prefer Ltd. (Waterbury, CT); vice president Carl Geffken of Carl Geffken Consultants (Guilford, CT); vice president Pamela Viglielmo of The Gramercy House (Fairfield, CT); treasurer Howard Baker of H. Baker Development (Hopatcong, NJ); and secretary Sharon Blinkoff of Buchanan Ingersoll PC (New York City).

In addition, the board also reappointed Stanley Katz of Katco Industries Inc. (Northport, NY) and Marva Kalish of Marketing Plus Consultants (Douglaston, NY) to additional one-year terms as chair and vice chair, respectively.

ICMAD’s nominating committee also announced members of the association’s board of directors for 2006–2007.

(New York City).

Nominated for three-year terms are: Howard Baker, Sharon Blinkoff, Carl Geffken, Stanley Katz, David Schieffelin, Nancy Allured of Allured Publishing Co. (Carol Stream, IL), Patricia Schmucker of Performance Branding Services (Torrance, CA), and David Steinberg of Steinberg & Associates (Plainsboro, NJ).

Staffing Changes at Estée Lauder

The Estée Lauder Companies has announced several senior staffing changes:

John Demsey has been named group president of The Estée Lauder Companies. Previously, Demsey served as the firm’s global brand president. In his new position, Demsey will continue to oversee the Estée Lauder brand, as well as brands M.A.C. Cosmetics, Prescriptives, Sean John, and Tom Ford Beauty. He reports to Dan Brestle, COO.

At Clinique, Jane Lauder has been placed as senior vice president, global product marketing. Most recently, Lauder served as vice president of marketing for Estée Lauder’s BeautyBank division.

Also at Clinique, Jim Nevins has been appointed senior vice president, global creative director. He returns to Clinique, having previously served as senior vice president, creative director from 1992 to 1999.

At Rodan + Fields Worldwide and Darphin North America, Beth DiNardo has been named senior vice president and general manager. Previously, DiNardo was senior vice president of global marketing for Clinique.

Finally, Julie Howard has been announced as senior vice president, global marketing and brand development for BeautyBank. Most recently, Howard served as vice president of global product marketing for Clinique.
