Estée Lauder announced new changes to its global communications team. Patricia Dente has been named executive director, global communications, North America. Previously, Dente served as executive director, public relations and advertising, for Puig Prestige Beauty. Dente will be responsible for Estée Lauder’s North America public relations efforts in television, radio, and trade press for Estée Lauder’s skin care, makeup, and fragrance categories.

In other news, Melissa McCarthy has been named vice president, global communications, West Coast. McCarthy will focus on building strong brand presence in the entertainment industry, as well as lead the North American public relations efforts for the Tom Ford Estée Lauder collections for holiday and spring. Mika Bailey has been promoted to executive director, international communications.

Craig J. Zezima

Rexam Dispensing Systems has appointed Craig J. Zezima vice president of sales, North America. Zezima will be responsible for increasing sales of the company’s current and new products in fragrance and lotion dispensers. He will be based in the supplier’s Purchase, NY, office and report to Hervé Bichon, the deputy director for Rexam Dispensing Systems Worldwide.

Brad Tackaberry has been named general manager of Shorewood Packaging’s display business. A business of International Paper’s Consumer Packaging Group, Shorewood Packaging provides printing, packaging, and retail display products.

Kramer Carton Co. has appointed Bob Brennan CEO. The company is a privately held manufacturer of folding cartons. Brennan has also been elected to the company’s board of directors. He previously held positions at Rock Tenn Co. and MeadWestvaco.

ICMAD’s Young Designers

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association (ICMAD) announced the winners of its 2005 Young Designers’ Competition at an awards dinner held September 28 at Lotus restaurant in New York City. Anne Mincey, vice president, global communications for Redken, gave a presentation and signed copies of her book, Get Glowing! You Are a Star Right Where You Are.

The winners are Tyler Moore, who won first place for his Motive High Gloss Hair Spray package design; Wei-Li Chen, second-place winner for her O’Live Shampoo package design; and third-place winner Anna Zimnoch for her protein hair treatment package design named It’s All About Your Hair.

CPC Packaging was one of the competition’s sponsors.

Bond No. 9 Opens New Store

On September 29, Laurice Rahmé, president of fragrance brand Bond No. 9 New York, held the grand opening of her fourth store, at 399 Bleeker St. in New York City. The new shop is decorated with funky vintage-style accents, including a hot-pink chandelier.

The New Jersey Packaging Executives Club (NJPEC) annual scholarship dinner was held September 15 at the Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange, NJ. The organization awarded $11,800 in three different scholarships this year. The scholarships include the Rimmele Scholarship, the Brady-Zito Scholarship, and the NJPEC scholarships.
