On Display: Dispensers - Function Meets Style
Distinctly Discreet
Following
the trend for low-profile fragrance pumps, a supplier
has introduced its latest low-profile design. The
Melodie fragrance sprayer is designed to be both
aesthetic and functional. A transparent dip tube
makes the pump a discreet addition to perfume bottle
designs. In addition, the inner pump mechanism is
fashioned to be inconspicuous. Its small size allows
it to be hidden behind a bottle’s neck. Other
features of the pump include smooth operation, high-quality
atomizing, good sealing properties, and a reduced
risk of corrosion. Saint-Gobain Calmar, City of
Industry, CA.
Water-Resistant Design
A
patented water-resistant dispenser is designed for
such personal care products as shampoo, conditioner,
and hair-treatment items that are stored in damp environments.
With a 3.2-cm3 output, the stock
pump is available in four ergonomic versions. The
supplier can also build customized actuator tooling.
The pump’s neck can be provided in a smooth
or a ribbed finish. Decorating options include hot
stamping, metallization, and application of an aluminum
skirt. Arminak & Associates, Duarte, CA.
Airless Innovation
A
supplier has developed a range of spray and lotion pumps
for AirFree, an airless packaging system from packaging
supplier Plastohm. The dispensers were supplied for
AirFree’s 50-, 100-, and 200-ml bottles. The spray
pumps accommodate dosages from 150 to 230 mml, while
the lotion pumps can handle dosages from 80 to 1000
mml. For convenience, the dispensing system has a 360-degree
dispensing capability, allowing it to distribute product
when held at any angle. Rexam Dispensing Systems, Purchase,
NY.
Optimizing Product Flow
A supplier’s
Metropolitan pump is now available in two additional versions.
One is a 140-µl makeup pump and the other is a 200-µl
gel pump. Both pumps were specifically designed to optimize
product flow, even when dispensing products with particles
such as powder and wax residue that are especially present
in makeup formulas. The pumps actuate smoothly and are offered
with three different gaskets. They are designed to match the
look of the supplier’s other standard closures. Ing.
Erich Pfeiffer GmbH, Radolfzell, Germany.
No-Drip Solution
Customers
who pour products directly from a bottle often encounter
the problem of residual liquid dripping down the bottle’s
neck. To solve this problem, a supplier has designed
a feature that breaks a product’s flow and draws
liquid back into a bottle, preventing product from dripping.
The patented design comprises a neck ring finish that
can be applied to a standard plastic bottle. It was
manufactured in conjunction with Quebec-based supplier
Plastique Micron. Brad-Pak Enterprises Inc., Garwood,
NJ.
Airless Line
A
supplier’s Paris packaging line includes a range
of stock airless dispensers. The dispensers are suited
for a wide range of products and especially those that
are sensitive to light. The pumps are available in metal
or plastic finishes, and matching caps are offered in
clear or white finishes. Both the pump and bottle are
made of chemical-resistant polypropylene. The Paris
White dispensers (pictured) are available in sizes of
7, 10, 15, 30, 50, and 100 ml. Customization can be
added via labeling, silk-screening, hot stamping, and
metallizing. Cospack America Corp., Edison, NJ.
Treatment Pumps
A
manufacturer and distributor of dispensers offers a
wide range of treatment pumps. The pumps are available
in GCMI 18/415, 20/410, 20/415, 22/415, and 24/410 neck
finishes. Two pump styles are available in stock: one
with a metal pump, a metal actuator, and a clear overcap,
and the other with a metal pump, a plastic actuator,
and a clear overcap. The pumps are offered in silver
or gold, in matte or shiny finishes. Han Hean USA Corp.,
Edison, NJ.
Stock Dispensers
Dispensers
are available with dosages ranging from 100 µl
to 5 cm3. Unique designs include the supplier’s
EcoSqueeze Foamer, which distributes liquid product
as foam with a squeeze of the bottle. For user friendliness,
the company also offers a line of portable minidispensers,
which include a bottle and a pump. The supplier also
offers an extensive range of closures. Emsar Inc., Stratford,
CT.
Fun with Foam
A
dispenser supplier continues to meet the growing
demand for foam product packaging. Recently, Pantene
chose the supplier’s foam technology for
its Blonde Expressions detangling foam (pictured).
To accommodate the variety of foam products being
launched, the supplier introduced its Airspray
WaterGuard water-resistant dispenser and its Dual-Foamer,
which is designed for products with active ingredients
such as those used in specialty conditioners.
Airspray International Inc., Pompano Beach, FL.
Trigger Sprayer
A
stylish mini trigger-sprayer has been developed
for cosmetic and personal care products. The 24-410
Mini Trigger-Sprayer features a locking clip designed
to prevent product from leaking during shipping.
The dispenser is fashioned to be comfortable to
use and it requires less of a squeeze to dispense
product than standard fine-mist sprayers. It is
available in a natural finish to match the company’s
glass and plastic bottles, including ones made from
high-density polyethylene. For a multiproduct launch,
the supplier can also provide natural-colored disk-top
dispensing closures that match the mini trigger-sprayers.
The disk-top closures are available in neck finishes
of 20-410 or 24-410. The Cosmetic Packaging Group,
a div. of O. Berk Co., Union, NJ.
Dispensing Package
A
slender dispenser is available in sizes of 5 and 8
ml. Suited for fragrance, cream, and roll-on products,
the dispenser can be provided in an array of colors.
Various decorating techniques can be applied. The
supplier offers a wide range of other pumps and dispensers
suited for cosmetic and personal care packaging. Arrowpak
Inc., Richmond Hill, NY.
