Stock Closures

imageFollowing A supplier offers more than 400 stock closures and jar covers for the cosmetic and personal care industry. Styles include compression- and injection-molded closures, in sizes ranging from 8 to 100 mm. The firm has experience using materials such as polypropylene, phenolic, urea, ABS, PETG, Surlyn, and PBT. Closures can be customized in-house using hot stamping, silk-screening, metallizing, or one-shot spray decorating. Portola Tech International, Woonsocket, RI.

Shining Star

imageA star-shaped spray-through cap was fashioned for Thierry Mugler’s latest Angel product by The Clarins Group. Due to the sharp edges of the cap’s design, the cap’s four parts—the button, the overactuator, the cap body, and the interior—required experience to mold and assemble. The cap was electroplated then tampo-printed with graphics. Alcan Packaging Techpack, New York, NY.

Custom Jar Covers

image In addition to offering a wide variety of stock jar covers, a supplier also produces custom jar covers. Decoration can be added via embossing, debossing, and side beading. Covers can be custom colored and produced in assorted heights and styles. Stock sizes are 33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 58, 63, 66, 70, and 89 mm. Cameo Metal Products, Brooklyn, NY.

Cap, Closure Selection

image A supplier offers a large selection of stock caps and closures. These can be supplied in polypropylene, urea, SAN, and ABS. Biinjection-molded designs are also available. For decorating, the company offers metallizing, hot stamping, color banding, spray lacquering, soft-touch finishing, and more. Arrowpak, Richmond Hill, NY.

Delicious Design

image A multiple-piece spray-through cap was developed for Donna Karan’s Be Delicious men’s fragrance bottle. Co-engineered by Estée Lauder and the supplier’s package development team, the four-piece cap includes a polyethylene base plate that orients the cap with the bottle. Because of the bottle’s unique shape, which was inspired by an apple, the cap’s spray-through orifice was designed to be off-center. This feature required extensive engineering in order to get the dispenser to work properly. Once the cap was molded, it was chrome electroplated. It was then assembled in-house by the supplier, which also applied a label on the cap. Lombardi Design & Manufacturing, Freeport, NY.

Mad for Metal

image The Prairie line of metal closures is designed to complement bottles and jars. In-stock closures are offered in a variety of finishes including shiny and matte, in colors such as silver and gold. Various sizes are available. The company also has matching PETG and polypropylene jars and bottles available. Cospack America Corp., Edison, NJ.

Stock, Custom Caps

imageIn addition to providing customized caps, a supplier offers a broad range of stock caps and closures. Stock styles include tamper-evident, spout, disk, and snap-top caps. Materials include metal and plastic. Various decorations can be applied such as decorative hot-stamped rings and aluminum shells. Arminak & Associates, Duarte, CA.

Tube Tops

image Cap-It-All is a new line of patented, oriented snap-on dispensing caps for tubes. The Cap-It-All caps come in two designs, Meridian and Regal. Meridian features gentle curves for a soft, refined image. Regal has a flat-walled, tapered shape for a slender, upscale look. Alcan Packaging Cebal, Norwalk, CT.

Fragrance Caps

image Surlyn caps were produced for Laura Biagiotti’s Roma and Aqua di Roma eau de toilette fragrance packages from Procter & Gamble. The cylindrical Roma cap features a texture that was created in the mold and a frosted finish. The Aqua di Roma cap was created using the existing textured mold for the Roma cap. It has a glossy rather than a frosted finish. A special lacquering process was developed to give the cap a translucent finish even though it was produced in a textured mold. Crown Risdon, Watertown, CT.

More Than Meets the Eye

image A supplier has created a dual-product tube cap that dispenses a tube’s product while housing a hot-pour product in a chamber located on top of the cap. The cap allows brands to pair two products in tube packaging such as lotion and lip balm, bronzer and eye shadow, or foundation and concealer. All sections of the cap are molded in durable, flexible ABS. The cap covering the hot-pour compartment can even be fitted with a mirror. The cap can be decorated using silk-screening, hot stamping, and spraying. HCT Packaging Inc., Bridgewater, NJ.
