Low-Profile Pump
A super-low-profile pump adorns the bottles for Karl Lagerfeld's Man EDT, distributed by Unilever Cosmetics International. Provided for the fragrance's 30-, 50-, and 100-ml bottles, the pump was anodized in a matte black finish to match the sloping caps. The pump offers low actuation force and good spray characteristics. Surlyn Cap
Heavy-walled Surlyn caps were fashioned to follow the curved contours of L'Eau par Kenzo men's and women's fragrance bottles. The one-piece cap fits flush on the pump, which sits to the right of the bottle's center. The caps are supplied for bottle sizes of 1, 1.7, and 3.4 oz. For the fragrances' sample-sized package, the supplier fashioned a Surlyn cap whose pintel was biinjection overmolded with polypropylene. This helps ensure product compatibility since, without the overmolding, the Surlyn may crack or change color when it comes into contact with the fragrance. Metallic Caps
For Lacoste's Pour Homme and Pour Femme fragrance bottles, metallic caps were decorated with a textile-like surface. Fashioned to simulate the brand's Chemise Lacoste polo shirts, the cap's texture was created by electrochemical engraving on the cap's mold. The metallic finish was achieved by nickel electroplating. For brand recognition, Lacoste's crocodile logo was created on the cap's top with laser-engraved mold cavities generated from a three-dimensional computer image. A steel weight was added to the interior of the cap to impart a luxurious feel. A polypropylene inner piece ensures that the cap fits flush against the pump. Environmental Sample Package
Royal Pineapple, a brand of bromelain-based skin-care products, chose a supplier's Xela Pack, or PaperBottle, to house its 5-ml Pineapple Facial Exfoliant sampler. The PaperBottle is a 75%- paper constructed packet that offers excellent barrier capabilities for products such as liquid, cream, powder, granulated products, and pills. At least 10% postconsumer recyclate is used in every pack's construction for environmental friendliness. A bend-and-tear orifice can be pinched at the opening after use, reclosing the packet and making it suited for single or multidose applications. Sizes range from 5 to 30 ml. Travel Brush Set
A compact, four-piece brush set for L'Oréal is designed to be travel friendly. The set comprises brushes for powder/ blush, eye shadow, concealer, and lip products. Each brush features professional-quality hair and brush heads. Anisa International Inc., Atlanta, GA.
Makeup Compact
A compact with a plum lid houses Ilona's Overtones Silky Sheer Color palettes for lips, cheeks, and eyes. The compact's aluminum pans were supplied by Acme Metal Cap Company, Inc., located in Woodside, NY. The base label was printed by S&K Label Co. (Bloomingdale, IL). Louvrette GmbH, Kierspe, Germany.
Oval Secondary Package
A supplier's InSight style secondary packaging houses the primary containers for Procter & Gamble's Olay Regenerist line. InSight comprises a printed, rigid-plastic sleeve and injection-molded end caps. The sleeves are made from transparent amorphous polyethylene terephthalate. The end caps, produced by the supplier's sister, AGI Polymatrix, are translucent polypropylene. They trap the top and the bottom of the primary container, preventing it from shifting within the sleeve. AGI/Klearfold, Warrington, PA.
Packages for Men
Goldwell for Men has launched a line with masculine appeal. The Refreshing Gel Shampoo for Hair & Body is housed in a bottle supplied by Riegler GmbH (Ramstadt, Germany). The bottle's cap is by Seaquist Löffler GmbH (Freyung-Linden, Germany). Etifix GmbH (Grafenberg, Germany) made the bottle's label. Other packages include a stock tube from Cebal Verpackungen GmbH (Nürnberg, Germany) for the Power Gel.
