On Display: Labels - Adding Value with Labels

Multiple Pages

img Expanded-content labels with multiple pages can provide manufacturers with more space for copy, coupons, and special promotions. Available with up to 52 pages, the supplier's booklet labels are offered in a range of sizes, styles, colors, and shapes. Styles for closing mechanisms include peel-and-reseal, breakaway, or perforated designs. The pages are preprinted, folded, and then laminated to a die-cut pressure-sensitive label. Extended-Text Label

img A supplier produces extended-text labels like the one on Bare Escentuals' i.d. cosmetics Soy Mocha SPF 15 lip balm container. The label was created to meet FDA labeling regulations for cosmetics containing sunscreen. To accommodate additional print required by FDA regulations, the label wraps around the container and includes a resealable panel. Primary labels are also among the supplier's specialty. Ampersand Label Inc., Garden Grove, CA.

Contract Services for Labeling

img A supplier of heat-shrinkable labels and seals offers the services of its Contract Sleeving Division, which can apply labels to a manufacturer's packages in-house. Full-body sleeves and multipack bands are among the label styles the supplier can provide. Materials include PVC, PETG, and OPS. Rotogravure printing can be done in up to eight colors. The sleeves can shrink onto glass and plastic containers, such as cans and tins, in a wide range of sizes. Ameri-Seal Inc., Chatsworth, CA.

Digital Printing

img For Sol Sunguard's sunscreen packages, the company chose digitally printed labels for their first label production run. According to the supplier, digital printing offers manufacturers the ability to run a variety of different label versions in lower quantities, without the significant prepress and setup costs generally associated with traditional printing. Using flexographic printing, the supplier was later able to meet Sol Sunguard's demand for increased label quantities. The UV flexographic inks were durable, making the labels resistant to chemicals and abrasion. The labels were four-color-process printed with three spot colors and an overall UV varnish. High-Definition Printing

img Using state-of-the-art flexographic presses, a supplier can create high-definition graphics on its labels. By merging digital workflows, digital printing, computer-to-plate technology, and advanced flexographic printing, the firm prints graphics that feature vivid colors and graduated screens with accuracy, consistency, and speed. As an added benefit, computer-to-plate technology speeds up print jobs by eliminating several significant steps typical to traditional platemaking. Prestige Label Company, Inc., Brooklyn, NY.

OptiFlex V-81 is designed to adhere well to rigid, semiflexible, and squeezable containers. In addition, the adhesive offers good resistance against moisture, humidity, and products.
