Stock Bottle, Cap
A 200-ml stock bottle with a cap houses Barefoot Botanicals Ltd.'s Hair and Scalp Rescue shampoo and conditioner. Both components were made from PETE. For decoration, a label printed in six colors was applied. At the bottom of the labels, the words Pure Plant Alchemy are printed in gold foil. Girasol BV, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Clip-On Package
A clip-on rubber cap supplied by Precise Technology Inc. makes Eco Lips' organic lip balm convenient to carry. The lip balm's stock high-density polyethylene container can be used alone or attached to the rubber cap. The container's four-color label was flexographically printed by Flexo Impressions Inc. (Bloomington, MN). An 80% postconsumer-recyclate secondary carton was supplied and offset printed by Green Bay Packaging Inc. (Green Bay, WI). Precise Technology Inc., North Versailles, PA.
Blister Packaging
A blister package allows ColorSave Products' ColorSave Lipstick Sealer to be hung for retail display. Designed with a hangtag, the blister card was manufactured from 20-pt C1S solid-bleached sulfate paperboard and finished with a blister coating. Graphics are offset printed in four-color process inks on the card's front and in black ink on the card's back. The blister is made from 12-mil PVC. BST Products Inc., Canoga Park, CA.
Men's Fragrance Bottle
Joe Grooming's Joe fragrance for men features a glass bottle topped with aluminum components. The 50-ml glass bottle supplied by 3C Inc. (Hawthorne, NJ) was topped with an aluminum over-cap and a pump from Han Hean USA Corp. (Edison, NJ). Decoration was done by USS Corp. (Newark, NJ). All components were sourced through distributor TricorBraun. TricorBraun, St. Louis, MO.
Aluminum Shell Decoration
For FCUK's (French Connection United Kingdom) men's and women's fragrances, a glass bottle supplied by Bormioli Rocco was adorned with a two-part brushed aluminum shell. Supplied by Fiampack, the aluminum shell's two parts, which are lined with plastic, snap together around the glass bottle. The men's shell is silver, and the women's is gold. Palladium ink graphics were printed on the bottle. Other components include a stock pump supplied by Saint-Gobain Calmar (Barcelona, Spain), and a secondary carton from Arko Paper Products Company, Inc. (Piscataway, NJ). Bright Design Concept
A lightbulb-shaped vial makes Origins' Light Makes Right color-correcting concealer unique. The lightbulb-shaped, clear PET vial is a stock component. The screw-on cap features a custom-colored aluminum overshell, white silk-screened graphics, and a nylon doe-foot applicator with a rubber wiper. The two-piece solid-bleached-sulfate paperboard carton supplied by Arkay Packaging Corp. (Hauppauge, NY) was designed with two sleeves to simulate a lightbulb carton. PVC Carton
Inwork Inc., a New York Citybased imaging firm, used its proprietary Inwork Insight service to facilitate the design and production of Colgate's Simply White Clear Whitening Gel carton. The clear PVC carton from AGI Klearfold was flexographically printed with eight-color graphics and hot-stamped with silver metallic ink. The carton's wave-like graphic was created by silk-screening in high-density, translucent white ink. AGI Klearford, a MeadWestvaco Packaging Resource, Warrington, PA.
Decorative Bottle
A glass bottle from Pochet of America houses the Lulu Guinness fragrance, distributed by Riviera Concepts Inc. USS Corp. (Newark, NJ) decorated the bottle with an opaque cream-colored spray and three-color silk-screening. A two-piece cap with a polypropylene inner piece was supplied by Bonnay Cosmetics (Iseworth, Middlesex, UK). The low-profile pump is by Valois of America (Congers, NY). Pochet of America, Wayne, NJ.
Sliding Compact
A sliding polypropylene compact customized for Avon features a living hinge that allows the lid to be folded back. The lid's underside has a mirror for convenience. The polypropylene compact's external surfaces were molded with a soft-touch texture. The clear sliding tray includes three product wells and a recess for an applicator. Luxury Jar, Cap
Guerlain's Issima Happylogy package was designed to feel luxurious. The 30- and 50-ml jars feature thick, blue Surlyn walls with a glass-like transparency. The walls were embossed with the Guerlain logo. The jars' assembly includes an iridescent polypropylene product cup sealed with a polypropylene lid which is also embossed with the brand's logo. The gold metallized polypropylene cap was molded with a swirl-shaped handle and fitted with a self-adhesive foam liner. Risdon-AMS, Watertown, CT.
Aluminum Tin
A brushed aluminum tin makes a unique shampoo package for Lush's solid shampoo bar, New Bar. The round tin, which measures 64 * 20 mm, is noncorrosive, making it suitable for damp bathroom environments. The lid is embossed with the brand's logo and features rolled edges. The tin is coated inside and out with a clear, FDA-approved lacquer. Once emptied of product, the 100% recyclable container can be reused or recycled. The tin won an award in the Health & Beauty category for the 2003 Best in Metals Awards, sponsored by the UK Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association. Roberts Metal Packaging Ltd., London, UK.
Personalized Label
For its DNA face and eye cream, LAB21, a company that custom formulates skincare products to suit each customer's DNA, chose a label just as personalized. Printed on the labels is information including each customer's name, the date on which the product was formulated, and the formula code for the customized product. The 50-ml stock cobalt-blue jar was supplied by Inoac Packaging Group (Bardstown, KY), and the jar's stock cap is by Romatic Manufacturing (Southbury, CT). Diamond-Shaped Bottle
For his Immaculate fragrance, Michel Germain, along with designer Pierre Dinand, fashioned a refillable glass bottle shaped like a Lozenge-cut diamond. For a luxurious feel, heavy glass in weights of 140 and 180 g was used by Verreries Brosse (Paris, France) to mold the 30- and 50-ml bottles, respectively. A stock pump by Valois (Valois of America; Congers, NY) was customized with a gold metallized collar. Jar, Lid
Philip Pelusi chose a 4-oz stock jar to house his brand's Phyto-Life Hard Stuff Crystal Gloss. The single-walled, clear SAN jar features a rounded base and silk-screened graphics. Triangular Design
Triangular bottles were supplied by Pochet of America (Wayne, NJ) for Alfred Sung's Paradise fragrances for men and women, distributed by Riviera Concepts Inc. Glass decorating was done by USS Corp. (Newark, NJ). The bottles' brushed-silver caps are from Innovative Products International (Matawan, NJ). In addition, Valois of America (Congers, NY) supplied its VP4 13-mm pump. Polyethylene Tube
Pamper Yourself Inc. debuted its first product in the Pamper Yourself Skin Care Family, Moisturizing Glove, in a white stock 4-oz tube. Fragrance Bottle
The glass bottle for Ilona's Within Eau de Parfum spray was supplied by Bormioli Luigi and ceramic-decorated in two colors by USS Corp. (Newark, NJ). Other suppliers include Cheon Kyung Company, Ltd. (Korea) for the Surlyn cap; Federico Ferrer (Spain) for the aluminum collar; and Valois (France) for the aluminum atomizer. The Mylar base label was provided by Precision Label Corp. Black, White Labels
A black and white label gives Savage Beauty's Purifying Cleansing Serum a modern look. Designed by Carol R.
