CPC Packaging's Editors' Choice Awards

The Best Commercial Beauty Packages of 2004.
The Best Commercial Beauty Packages of 2002.

It's awards time once again! We, the editors of CPC Packaging, have named the winners of our second annual Editors' Choice Awards, cosponsored by the Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers association. On the following pages, we bring you coverage of our top picks for cosmetic, limited fragrance, mass fragrance, and personal care packages launched on U.S. shelves in 2002.

Launches were judged for their overall packaging concept, design, and marketability. After carefully considering the vast range of commercial packages launched last year, we selected those that we believe should be recognized for advancing the state of the beauty packaging industry.

Sharing their views about our selections are our roundtable of panelists, who are six individuals with a range of beauty product and packaging expertise. Their comments, published throughout our awards coverage, bring new perspective to the packages we have chosen.

imgThis year's panelists include Paul Bergmann, director of technical packaging for the Estée Lauder Companies Inc.; Christopher Brosius, perfumer, founder, and vice president and creative director for Demeter Fragrance Library; Robert Du Grenier, president of Robert Du Grenier Associates Inc. design studio; Jeanine Recckio, founder of Mirror Mirror Imagination Group and its Crystal Ball Beauty Trend Report; Julio Russ, senior vice president of global color cosmetics for Revlon Consumer Products Corp. R&D; and Karen Stone, founder and owner of The Miracle Group global branding and design agency. All are respected for their knowledge of and contributions to the beauty packaging industry. And one panelist in particular, Paul Bergmann, gives us a firsthand account of his work on one of our selections, Estée Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow, as well as on other products in the Estée Lauder corporate family.

We hope that these stories about our 16 award winners and their supplier-partners are inspirational. The CPC Packaging editors extend our congratulations to the winners of our 2003 Editors' Choice Awards!
