On Display: Cartons - Cartons with Charm
Translucent Cartons
Translucent cartons convey a modern and prestigious look for Helena Rubinstein's Spectacular and Vertiginous mascaras. Decorations were applied via hot stamping, offset printing, and silk-screening. The colorful cartons' luminous appearance is meant to stand out on the shelf. Roskoplast, Billere, France.
Holographic Cartons
Holographic gift cartons were created as parts of holiday promotions for Matrix Essentials' Amplify, Biolage, Logics, and Sleek.look products, distributed by L'Oréal. Fashioned from holographic foil board, the cartons were die-cut with diamond-shaped windows. A UV coating was applied to enhance the transparent-ink graphics. Diamond Packaging, Rochester, NY.
Chipboard Box
A chipboard box was glazed with white finish for the Travel With Me set by Noodé Skincare. The manufacturer's logo was silk-screened in three colors in a large, easy-to-read format to reinforce the brand's identity during shelf or point-of-purchase display. The 2-oz travel-sized PET bottles were hot stamped with graphics and supplied with a silver cap by M&H Plastics (Beccles, Suffolk, UK). Albert Paper Products Co., Irvington, NJ.
Transparent Packages
Transparent boxes, folding cartons, clamshells, and blisters are offered by a supplier. Available in PET, polypropylene, and PVC, the packages can be fashioned in a number of wall thicknesses. Decoration can be applied using offset or silk-screen printing, foil-stamping, or frosting. Labels can also be used as decoration. VisiPak, Arnold, MO.
Polystyrene Trays
Polystyrene trays were vacuum-molded to fit into colorful outer boxes for Cacharel's Anaïs Anaïs, Nemo, and Noa fragrances, distributed by L'Oréal. The trays' cavities precisely fit the products' primary containers. The colorful outer boxes were biinjection molded from polystyrene by the supplier's sister company, Axilone USA (New York, NY). A clear polystyrene window on the box allows the products to remain visible. Alliora USA, New York, NY.
Various Materials
Cartons can be created from a supplier's range of materials. RubberTek, a matte, rubber-like substrate, can be die-cut and laminated at high speeds. Supreme Silk simulates the look of silk for a high-end appearance. Hot Weave resembles tweed. The substrates can be color-matched using the Pantone Matching System. IBC/Shell Containers Inc., Lake Success, NY.
