Show Coverage: HBA Global Expo 2002
The 10th annual HBA Global Expo, to be held October 14–16 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, promises
a wealth of resources for designers, executives, marketers, and other beauty packaging professionals. Exhibits, educational conferences, and awards programs will focus on the latest in cosmetic and personal care packaging.
More than 500 exhibitors are expected to showcase bottles, cartons, closures, containers, dispensers, jars, labels, machinery, and such services as decorating and designing. For a partial list of packaging exhibitors, see the list below.
A keynote address by Leonard A. Lauder, chairman of the board for Estée Lauder Companies, Inc., titled A View from the Top: The Next Five Years, will highlight the state of the beauty industry and open the show on October 14.
Among the packaging conferences scheduled for October 14 and 15 are Adding Value through Great, Maybe Daring, Design; Enticing the Consumer with Labeling and Decoration; and Prestige Packaging within Your Budget. A session titled The Winners of the 3rd International Package Design Awards: How They Did It, will feature the winning packages of the HBA International Package Design Awards, which will be presented at the show. Also to be announced at the show is the Packaging Executive of the Year Award winner.
HBA will be colocated with the Personal Care Ingredients & Technology Expo (PCITX), which makes its debut this year. Geared to the research and development industry, the exhibition will feature international suppliers of ingredients and technologies for personal care product development. Crystal-Like Polymer
A polymer has a crystal-like appearance, making it a good alternative to glass and conventional thermoplastics. Zeonor polymer is durable and resistant to acids, bases, and moisture. A self-pressurized dispenser that operates without chemical propellants is suited for cream, gel, liquid, and postfoaming products. A flag-style label affixed to a sample-sized sprayer provides additional space for printed graphics. The Sof'Flag polypropylene sprayer is available in sizes of 1.2, 1.6, and 1.8 ml. An aluminum container housing a glass flacon was created for the Boss In Motion fragrance by Hugo Boss. Supplied for the 40- and 90-ml fragrance sizes, the spherical container features two snap-fitted anodized hemispheres, one of which is debossed with the Hugo Boss logo.
