Oval Bottles:
Recyclable oval bottles are available in six sizes ranging from 1.25 to 12 oz. The smaller-sized containers are well suited for holding samplers and hotel amenities, as well as skin care, suntan, and body lotions. The Signet Line can be further enhanced with optional frosting, colors, decorating, and closure options. The Cosmetic Packaging Group, a division of O. Berk Co., Union, NJ.
Decorated Blister:
A flat, die-cut plastic blank is erected on a blister card sealer, creating a package for maximum consumer appeal. BlisterPlus blanks can be produced with perforations, windows, or hinged reclosable openings. Imprinting can be done using offset, flexographic, or silkscreen printing, as well as hot or cold stamping and embossing. AGI/ Klearfold, Warrington, PA.
Lipstick Package:
For its Moisture Stay lipstick, Revlon wanted an elegant package in its custom gold color that shone like a piece of jewelry. Risdon-AMS satisfied RevlonÕs requirements with a lipstick case that features a high-purity aluminum outer shell anodized in gold, a case with center bands that contain four beads in a 50-50 round configuration, and a cap and base that are silky smooth to the touch. Engineered for smooth action and consistent torque, Risdon-AMSÕs ColorTouch system prevents pomade retraction or pushback during application and requires only one revolution to fully advance the lipstick. The systemÕs cartridge components are made of styrenics and acetal. The metal components are produced in Risdon-AMSÕs Watertown, CT, facility, while the plastic components are made in the companyÕs Barie, Canada plant. The components are assembled in Risdon-AMSÕs Danbury, CT, facility. Risdon-AMS, Watertown, CT.
Shrink Films:
Paco Rabanne chose an OPS shrink film for its Ultraviolet perfume bottles. The Sleever can be applied to a wide range of container shapes to expand design options. The film, which has metallic pigments and dichromatic varnishes that result in an iridescent appearance, is protected from abrasions. It can be formed into a tearable tab without perforations, which protects a container from tampering. Invisible devices for tracing that are incorporated into the film protect products from counterfeiting. Sleever International, Morangis, France.
Glossy Films:
Films are suited for a wide range of package decorating applications. Fasson POLYplus 250, which was chosen for the physique line of hair products, is available white or clear as an alternative to polyethylene and biaxially oriented polypropylene films. The highly conformable film is made from a 2.5-mil coextruded polyolefin glossy facestock, and is durable at high throughput speeds. Avery Dennison, Fasson Roll North America, Painesville, OH.
Slim Containers:
The Saber line of containers features tall, slim designs popular in todayÕs personal care marketplace. Available in both PVC and HDPE, the containers can be supplied in 4-, 8-, or 12-oz or 1-L sizes. Their oval shape is comfortable to hold and lends itself to spray-pump applicators or dispensing caps. The 1-L size is especially well suited for professional back-bar products. Poly-Tainer Inc., Simi Valley, CA.
Bottles and Tottles:
A new family of skin care products from NoodŽ features playful, colorful packages designed to catch the eyes of 15- to 29-year-olds. Three different designers worked to create packages for a line of products that promotes self indulgence: M&H created a clear transparent PET bottle with no seams in 8.5- and 6.8-oz sizes; Pfieiffer devised a no-stroke, twist-lock actuator that prevents accidental discharge with no visible injection points and an ergonomic design; and Dieter Bakic International designed a tottle from soft-touch material. M&H (Naugatuck, CT), Pfieiffer, and Dieter Bakic International, MŸnchen, Germany.
Dispenser System:
Procter & Gamble chose the WIKO dispenser system for the Olay Total Effects facial moisturizer. The new valve system can pump air while priming quickly and producing consistent output. The WIKO Magic F dispenser combines the design of the dispenser with the new valve system, which is supplied as a complete package, including the container, dispenser, cap, and label or decoration. WIKO-USA Inc., Exton, PA.
