Cosmoprof Cosmetica to Feature US Pavilion
The US Department of Commerce is pleased to announce that, in cooperation with the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD), it will organize a pavilion for US exporters at Cosmoprof Cosmetica 2000 for the sixth time. Cosmoprof Cosmetica, to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil September 2-5, 2000, hosted 500 exhibitors, 372 from Latin America and 128 from the rest of the world, at the 1999 show. Visitors, who included Brazilian and other Latin America distributors, wholesalers and retailers, as well as the general public, numbered 72,600, with more than 1,600 coming from 21 counties
Augros Relocates Sales Office
Augros Inc. has relocated the sales office from Clark, NJ, to its production facility located in Ronkonkoma, Long Island. With this move, Augros streamlines and enhances customer service, engineering and operations into more than 85,000-sq. ft. with 175 employees.
Packexpo.com Launches Purchasing Capabilities
Packexpo.com, an online packaging marketplace serving the global packaging industry, announced the addition of full-transaction e-commerce with online ordering and purchasing capabilities. The Purchasing Exchange is now available to the 5,300 packaging supply companies currently listed on Packexpo.com. "The addition of e-commerce gives Packexpo.com users the convenience and savings they're looking for," says Stuart Stafman, CEO, Packexpo.com. "Packexpo.com will help lower transactional costs, streamline delivery processes and reduce inventory. Through surveys and research, that included companies such as 3M, Con Agra, Eastman Kodak and Warner-Lambert, packaging buyers indicated that they wanted a single-source, industry specific online location where they can research, compare and purchase products and services."
FTA Print Award Given to Glenroy
For the third consecutive year, Glenroy Inc., Menomonee Falls, WI, has been honored with an Excellence in Flexography Award at the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) Annual Forum. The FTA announced Glenroy won the Gold Award for the category wide web, line, film.
Joint Venture For Valois, Techpack
Valois, SA, Marly-Le-Roi, France and Techpack SA, Chevilly Larue, France, entered a joint venture to merge their respective airless packaging technologies. A third company will be formed to pursue development and marketing of piston and bag systems. Tentatively called Airless Systems, the company will funded equally by Valois and Techpack and will be managed by Stanislas Peronnet, currently managing director of Techpack's fragrance & skincare divisions. Product development will take place in house with the support of Valois and Techpack. Revenues of $30 million are expected the first year.
Design A Package Electronically
Visitors to Sussex Technology's website, www.sussextech.com, can design a package from bottle to closure using components from the Sparta, NJ, company. Sussex specializes in product design and development, precision injection molding, material science assembly, decorating and closure lining. Capabilities include complete package systems, speciality closures including tamper-evident closures, bottles, containers, pressure-sensitive labels, decorating and closure liners.

Rexam Restructures Operations Rexam Beauty Packaging, Greenwich, CT, has restructured its operations in both North and South America by joining all five of its manufacturing and importing companies under the name Rexam Beauty Pacakging. "We purchased companies in the Americas that extended our reach in the beauty packaging industry," says Henning Kornbrekke, CEO of Rexam Beauty Packaging in the Americas. "By allowing each company to operate independently we have become a major player in the cosmetic industry. Now in order to place a greater emphasis on new product development and customer communications, we needed to operate as one company." Sussex Plastics, Sofab USA, Rexam Cosmetic Closures, Rexam Beauty Packaging Do Brasil and Rexam Cosmetic Packaging now operate under the name Rexam Beauty Packaging.
Idmarket.com introduces SMA/RT System
Idmarket.com, Kansas City, MO, a new web-based technology that provides automated solutions for buyers and sellers in the packaging and product identification industries, has introduced the SMA/RT (Specification management Application/Real Time) system. SMA/RT organizes packaging specifications, providing easy access to current specifications and historical changes. The system also features a supplier certification module, standard defect terms and an advanced graphic repository.
Seidel Increases Operation
Seidel Packaging, New York, NY, has invested in over 10 additional eyelet presses and the opening of a plant for injection molding, assembly and decoration were completed by putting a second anodizing-line into operation. "The additional capacity is highly appreciated by our clients," says Stefan Panne, director, customer relations. "A 35 percent growth in the first quarter 2000 and various existing projects to be launched soon, fortify our leading position in the market."
Rexam Closures and Containers To Expand Facility
Rexam Closures and Containers, Evansville, IN, will double the size of its Princeton, IN, Facility to create more space for new machinery and warehousing and to upgrade employee facilities. Construction has already started and is expected to be completed by November 2000. "This expansion enables us to increase output in order to meet increasing customer requirements," says Scott Jones, vice president of operations for Rexam Closures and Containers. "Additional employees will be required to support the expansion."
