Noa

By Cacharel

imgEmbodying radiance and purity, Noa, a new fragrance for women from Cacharel, is an ultra-feminine floral musk that is elegantly presented in an delicate glass bottle that cradles a floating "pearl."

"There are several brand attributes that fit Noa: modernity, purity, sensuality and, above all, femininity," says Thayer Lavielle, public relations manager for Cosmair's European Designer Fragrances. " Noa brings us a vision and a message. The vision--the world can be a better place. The message-discover what is special about you and share it with the world and together we can share in the vision."

Everything about the fragrance's packaging, designed by Annegret Beier in France, reflects its brand attributes, notes Lavielle. "From the exterior carton which is a pure ivory color to its clean lines and lettering," she says. "Then when you open the fragrance package and open the box the package seems to blossom like a flower. The fabric-like paper inside act as the petals of flower protecting what is cherished on the inside."

The round glass bottle is crafted by Saint Gobain Desjonqueres (SGD), Courbevoie, France. Christian Laussy, SGD's vice president of product development, says the objective was to try to shorten the neck of the bottle to preserve the bottle's circle shape. "Inserting the plastic pearl into the bottle required a large neck opening so we had to design a new neck size that would work with the plastic fitment to affix the pump," he says. "We also developed a special process that pushed the glass neck down to shoulder level during the glass blowing operation to maintain the round shape of the bottle."

Dispensing Sense

imgNoa's dispensing system employs a Sofab SP6 low profile pump from and a specially-designed collar created to act both as a spacer between the pump and the actuator and to disguise the large neck finish required to accommodate the insertion of the pearl.

The pump itself is a design feat. "It is the only Surlyn(r) actuator in the market," says Lamie. "Testing was required to determine if the pump would function correctly and to ensure that it wouldn't interact with the fragrance." The pump is delivered fully assembled and is snapped onto the package, eliminating production conflicts.

The dispensing system was created through a collaborative effort of the Rexam Beauty Companies in France. "The pump design is rather interesting, says Sofab's John Lamie. "It is an integration of technology and design and Sofab answered the technical issues to stay within the design parameters of Cacharel." The Noa family is comprised of one-oz, 1.7oz and 3.4oz eau de toilettes, a 6.7oz tube of Perfumed Body Shampoo and a 6.7oz tube of Perfumed Stardust Body Lotion.
