Fragrance Bottles: Playboy Fragrances
When designing the packaging for Playboy’s fragrance collection, the team at Lutz Herrmann design and Coty Beauty knew that the design would somehow have to feature the brand’s iconic rabbit head logo. The logo, recognized worldwide, was all that was needed to brand the fragrance. Technology developed by Sleever International (Morangis, France) allowed the logo to be prominently displayed in a unique way.
A plastic shrink sleeve with a brushed-metal look was wrapped around the majority of the clear, flask-shaped glass bottle. An outline of the rabbit head logo was cut out of the film near the bottle’s bottom right corner.
By being cut out of the sleeve, the logo is meant to give the impression of a keyhole, according to the team at Coty Beauty. Through the outline, one catch a glimpse of the brightly colored juice in the bottle.
“The embossed texture on the film and the perfect integration of the sleeve against the glass bottle were challenging tasks,” says David Lopez-Bonnet, director of cosmetic product development of Coty Beauty Europe.
Gerresheimer (Düesseldorf, Germany) produced the glass bottle, Emsar (Stratford, CT) supplied the pump dispenser, and Procap (Messia sur Sorne, France) made the bottle’s cap.
